Rest your eyes from screens
Long hours on a phone or computer can leave your eyes dry and tired.
The 20-20-20 habit
Every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. Setting a repeating timer helps at first.
Set up your screen
- Place the screen about an arm's length away, with the top slightly below eye level.
- Reduce glare from windows and lamps.
- Match screen brightness to the room.
- Increase the text size so you are not squinting.
Give your eyes a break
- Blink often. People blink less when they look at screens.
- Use lubricating drops if your eyes feel dry and your eye doctor agrees.
- Spend time outside each day.
