Ease a stressful day
Stress is a normal part of life. Small resets can take the edge off.
Try one of these
- Breathe in slowly through your nose, then breathe out for longer. Repeat for one minute.
- Step outside, or walk for five minutes.
- Write down what is on your mind, then pick one next step.
- Talk to a friend or family member.
- Stretch your neck and shoulders, where many people hold tension.
Prevent build-up
Regular sleep, movement and breaks all lower stress over time. Try to take a real break at lunch, away from your desk and phone.
Know when to get help
Feeling stressed for a short time is normal. If it lasts for weeks, affects your sleep, appetite or relationships, or you feel hopeless, please talk to a doctor or a mental health professional. If you ever feel you might harm yourself, contact your local emergency number or crisis line right away.
