Speed up a slow phone

A slow phone often just needs some care.

Try these in order

1. Restart it. This clears many small problems.
2. Free up storage. Delete unused apps, old downloads and duplicate photos. A phone that is almost full slows down.
3. Install updates. Update the system and your apps.
4. Check battery and background use. Close apps that drain power and limit background activity for apps you rarely use.

Still slow?

Clear the cache of a heavy app, or remove it and reinstall it. As a last step, back up your data and reset the phone to factory settings.

When to replace

Very old phones may stop receiving security updates. If yours is no longer supported, a replacement is a good idea.
