Lower your energy bill
You do not need big upgrades to save energy. These habits cost little or nothing.
Quick wins
- Switch to LED bulbs. They use much less power and last longer.
- Wash clothes in cold water when you can.
- Unplug chargers and devices you are not using.
- Adjust your thermostat by one or two degrees.
- Seal gaps around doors and windows to stop drafts.
Heating and cooling
They are usually the biggest part of a bill. Close curtains in the hottest part of the day, and open them in winter sunlight. Clean or replace heating and cooling filters on schedule.
Know where your energy goes
Check your bill each month and compare it with the same month last year. If your provider offers an online usage chart, look at when you use the most.
